Uncle Mike, I am thrilled to see you and Charlie (and even Grandma M!) writing in to our blog! One of the many drawbacks of living so far away is not often conversing on interesting topics. But I do believe that the Blog Phenomenon is bridging the gap! So we have a So Ore relative in our midst? I should look him up...maybe he's buried in a nearby cemetery! (Our family is getting closer all the time...)

just now seeing this response. I am in fact amy's uncle (michael) brother of stephen and living in so cal. my son charlie is little hippie and age 13. i too believe the hippie movement was meaningful, but the reality of the fact that it was significantly tied to drugs and free love makes it a bit challenging to deal with in regard to my pubescent son. Many blessings to you all and i look forward to meeting you logan ( the eloquent writer) when we come to good old so ore for chelsea's wedding. did u know my gradfather lived in grants pass around the turn of the 20th century? i guess i have a little so ore in my blood....

I just want to state that I believe the Peace Corps is a great progam, and I never had any intention to bash on hippies. I actually hold some of the hippie ideals and there was some great music that came out of the 60's. However, I am getting a kick out of the fact that people are enjoying posting commentary about my commentery :).

my poor son doesn't realize the peace corp is not a core. and i doubt any of the above noted hippies (or bands) ever joined the peace corp. however - it was started by our own calif gov's father in law - seargent shriver - and it continues to be a great program.....

just my social commentary.

I think it's fantastic. I know Amy loves blue grass. Hope you aren't working too hard. And I hope you are happy. (By the way the link on the home page to pictures seems to be broken, you know why I can't get there?).

It's hard to do business when you stink. Maybe they were yuppies that have hippie leanings, just shower 3 times a week. Ashland is filled with this hybrid subculture.

I think you are confusing yuppie with "trust fund hippies."

A Young Urban Professional by definition is much different from someone who doesn't shower, eats vegan and drives a VW bus.

FREAKIN RAD OUT.
