Only child syndrome

Is it because we give him all the doggy toys he wants? That he gets two full size meals on a daily basis? Both meals being the best doggy food that we can afford, and it’s organic. Maybe it’s because we let him sleep in our room? (The cat’s don’t even get that luxury). Our little Odin has apparently become a bully at doggy daycare. We’ve had to take him in twice so we could go on vacation, and both times we get reports that Odin finds little dogs and and steals their toys and tries to pick fights. How can this be? What’s a loving father to do? Does this look like the face of a bully?

Run Like HellFor those that know me, I’m not a very athletic person. I’ve attempted competitive sports before, but I’ve lacked the needed killer instinct and or God given ability. After years as a sedentary computer programmer, I have managed to pack on a few extra molecules of triglyceride joy. So to get the fat out of my life ( I topped out at 245lbs last Christmas), I’ve began running…. Believe it or not, running has some amazing health benefits, one of them being immediate weight loss. Starting with a goal to complete the Great Columbia crossing, I began running July 4th. After putting my poor dilapidated lipid rich body through a self prescribed training pGreat Columbia Crossingrogram (and with the encouragement of my loving wife), I have knocked over 25 lbs off and now officially weigh in at 218lbs. After running across the bridge, the crazy 10k mentioned prior, I ran like hell in the Portland Run Like Hell 5k. Anyways, I haven’t quite reached my weight goal of 198, but I post this that if this lazy @#!3 can do it anyone one else surely can. Also, a great book which has inspired me further is The Complete Book of Running by the late great James Fixx (trust me, read this, and your life will be transformed).

Here are some misc. links I found interesting/thought provoking this week.
Excellent article by Steve McConnell on How to Self-Study for a Computer Programming Job. I’m still mulling through Code Complete (Go buy it).

Donald Boudreaux one of the writers for Cafe Hayek, a favorite Libertarian political blog of mine, sums up nicely how I feel and many pro-freetrade/humanitarians feel on immigration. (It has nothing to do with the Republican party).
Funny stuff…
Laughable.

Even funnier, I’ll be running in the Great Columbia crossing this October, my goal is to just finish.
